Open Orbit, an Insolitus product, is founded with a mission to deliver a transformative platform for clients, service providers and advisors in the area of business process improvement. The name emphasises an ability to view things from all perspectives, and encourage user contribution and collaboration for mutual benefit.
The company is led and managed by process improvement (PI) practitioners with expertise in technology. We have converted extensive experience in driving sustainable improvement into an intuitive and versatile technology that applies the principles of PI to the process of doing PI itself. That in essence is the promise of Open Orbit – it will make your PI projects faster, cheaper, more standardised, more repeatable, more re-usable and more predictable. All the attributes that we seek in the business process are thus being applied to the improvement project as well.
Insolitus is based in Sydney, Australia and has development and design partners in India. It has concept and design advisors from the industry including senior process excellence practitioners in global consulting firms, business service providers and large enterprises.
Meet the Team
Niranjan brings extensive experience in senior roles across companies like Genpact, IBM, PwC Consulting and Siemens. He has worked on building new business, creating consulting capabilities and implementing change programs in a variety of cultural and geographic contexts, including in Australia, India and the Silicon Valley, US.
Open Orbit is Niranjan’s brainchild and has been founded with a vision to apply the principles of Process Improvement (PI) to the very process of PI itself – or PI 2.0. The combination of a diagnostic style workbench, (patent application under way) with a context-sensitive knowledge base of PI insights, was conceived from Niranjan’s experience of Lean Six Sigma and what drives sustainable process change. With Open Orbit, he has brought together this knowledge with his insights in technology to conceive of and build a new platform for the process improvement professional.

In his previous role he led major client relationships and new business growth in Australia and New Zealand as Vice President for Genpact. Niranjan joined Genpact in 2006 as Quality and Six Sigma Leader for Finance, HR and Infrastructure. Within a short period, he moved on to take pivotal responsibility as India Hiring Leader and drove the fastest growth to date in Genpact staff count, with over 10,000 new recruits joining Genpact in that year in India.
Prior to Genpact, Niranjan worked with IBM Business Consulting Services and PwC Consulting in Sydney, where he held a range of roles across Business Consulting, Program Management, IT Implementation and Business Development with clients in Telecommunications, Travel and Transport, Automotive, Industrial and Technology. Prior to this career in IT and Consulting, he worked for Siemens and DCM Data Products in India in the Industrial Automation divisions, handling engineering, solutioning and business development roles.
Niranjan holds a Bachelor of Technology degree in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi.
Design and Domain Partner
Umesh brings extensive experience in senior roles across companies like Serco, Wipro, Genpact, Holcim, QAI, and the Punj Group. He has been a COPC and ISO Lead Auditor and a mentor for deployment of SIx Sigma and Lean. Umesh has worked on business process engineering, management consulting, training, software development, risk management, and implementing change programs in a variety of cultural and geographic contexts, including in Asia, Europe, and the US. As a consultant and trainer, some of the companies he has had deep involvement with are Reliance Telecom, Citi, HCL, Dell, Accenture, Convergys, ICICI, Minacs, EXL, Ultratech, Ramco, and the Dalmia Group.
As a Design and Domain Partner for Open Orbit, Umesh has helped enhance the value through participation in conceptualisation, design, and content creation. His key competency in facilitating transformation through linking Process Excellence to Business Objectives has been very useful. His experience in operations standardisation and capability building have helped OO’s journey towards a robust diagnostic framework, purposeful content, and ease of use.

As a Chief Process Officer at Serco Global Services, Umesh led several Change initiatives including capability building of operations leadership, linking management system to risk, centralising Work Force Management, and providing business impact – ‘Beyond SLAs’. Along with extensive application in banking, telecom, travel, government services and technology sectors, Umesh has worked in customer service, finance and accounting, help desk, Collections, and Facilities Management. In Genpact, Umesh led Process Lab, a program to invent new business processes. In QAI, he participated in laying the foundations of Process Excellence in the then nascent Business Process Outsourcing sector in India.
Umesh holds a Bachelor of Technology degree in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi.
Head – Delivery & Customer Engagement
Pooja has over 15 years of experience in Operations Management. Her expertise lies in setting up operations and driving process improvements. She has worked with companieslike ebookers, Orbitz, Serco (erstwhile Intelenet), Travelguru (Travelocity/Yatra.com) and WNS where she managed complex processes and drove excellence initiatives. She has led large accounts and managed client relationships in different geographies – India, US and Europe. With her global exposure, specific skill sets, logical reasoning and keen eye for detail, Pooja has developed a strong business acumen that compliments her in depth knowledge of BPM functions.
As a domain consultant, Pooja’s key role at Open Orbit is to constantly identify practical and sustainable improvements and provide adoption support. Pooja also plays a dual role of a research expert and strategist to foster content enrichment.

Rohini is a seasoned expert in Customer Service, Telecom, Process Excellence and IT enabled services. She has expertise in planning, transitioning and ‘create, build, operate and transfer’ projects. She has held leadership positions in organizations handling large enterprise accounts.
In her career of 17 years she has worked with the pioneers in mobile telephony – Modi Telstra and Airtel ; and in IT enabled services – Intelenet Global Services. She has worked for marquee clients like Vodafone, e Bookers, Lumo, Transunion, Equifax to name a few. Rohini has a strong track record of managing and transitioning large operations of 1000+ people, implementing best practices in processes, and delivering to ambitious goals with regard to Quality and Service Levels.

Rohini holds a Bachelors degree in Accounting from Calcutta University.
Isha is a Product Engineer at Open Orbit. Her role involves developing and refining the product roadmap by combining algorithmic technology with customer requirements and priorities. As a Masters student of Electrical Engineering and Mathematics at the University of New South Wales Isha brings an understanding systems design, abstraction and deep learning algorithms to this role. Isha has had past experience with technology strategy and system level architecture in her role as an intern at LX Group. Isha has also worked as an Undergraduate Advisory Consultant at Aurecon and brings to the team her experience in analysing data and designing solutions for a variety of different projects.
